PHILOSOPHY
THE HEART BEHIND WHAT I DO
I get it. You are way too busy for the fuss of a full service portrait session, but you still want gorgeous updated portraits of your growing family. That's exactly what my mini session experience will do for you!
Mini sessions are a simple, fast, and FUN way to create stunning portraits, for a fraction of the time and cost of a full session. Read on to learn more and to book your mini session today!

LET'S GET READY!
After booking, you'll receive a prep guide to help you select outfits and prepare everyone for a fun, successful session. I'll be in touch via phone within 2-3 weeks of the session to confirm all of the details, answer any questions you may have, and to get to know you and your family!
DATES & LOCATION
Mini sessions will take place on Saturdays and Sundays throughout 2020. These sessions will be our ONLY weekend portrait availability, so if weekends are best for your family, these will be a perfect fit!
Tentatively, we'll be in Old Town Alexandria in the spring, the Jefferson Patterson Park beach in the summer, Annapolis in the fall, and Mechanicsville, MD for holiday.
The SEssion
Hooray, it's finally session day! I'll check in the week prior to confirm the details. Once we're at the session, get ready to play and have fun! We don't do too much "sitting and smiling", which ensures photographs that look perfectly candid and full of life.
Please be sure to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to your appointment time! Because we're photographing clients back to back, we aren't able to delay sessions due to late arrivals.
GALLERY DELIVERY
This is my favorite part - it's time to see all of our hard work pay off! Galleries will be delivered via email within seven business days. From there, you'll be able to download and share your images, or purchase optional add-ons such as prints or additional images.
DIGITAL FILES
I totally understand the value of having digital negatives! However, I'd be doing you a disservice if creating physical artwork for you wasn't my priority. Hard drives crash and social media platforms fade away, but a handcrafted album or framed print will bring joy for generations.
LET'S BE FRIENDS!
It's my hope that our session together is just the beginning! The majority of my clients are repeats, coming back year after year for milestones and family portraits. I love it when clients turn into dear friends, allowing me the privilege of watching their families grow up.
INVESTMENT
Mini sessions are $199 and include a planning consultation via phone, a prep guide and questionnaire, a portrait session lasting 25 minutes, and seven digital images of your choice. You may also upgrade to the full gallery for an additional $147!
Professional prints will be available for purchase directly from your gallery, or you may download and print your images at the lab of your choice.
We understand that plans can change! Your appointment time may be transferred to another mini session up to 30 days in advance, and even to another client up to 5 days in advance. Session retainers are non-refundable.

In April, we'll head to one of my favorite locations, right at the peak of cherry blossom bloom! Old Town Alexandria is ideal because of its historic charm, beautiful parks and waterfront views. It's conveniently accessible by car with ample street parking available. I recommend making a day of it and exploring the city after your session!
SUMMER

Kick off your shoes and let's hit the beach! In July, we'll head to one of my favorite locations in southern Maryland. The beach in tucked away within Jefferson Patterson Park, with sweeping views of the Patuxent River. We'll stroll the boardwalk, play on the beach, and maybe even jump into the water! Don't forget a change of clothes!
AUTUMN

Fall is by far the most popular season for portraits, so be sure to book this one well in advance! We'll meet in either Annapolis or southern Maryland for our autumn mini sessions, likely in mid October.

Tree farm sessions are quickly becoming a client favorite! These will be held in mid-November and are extremely limited due to reduced daylight. Sessions will take place at one of my favorite local tree farms in Mechanicsville, MD. Be sure to select a tree or a wreath after your session!

WHILE YOU'RE PLANNING
WHAT TO WEAR
Light neutrals and soft colors photograph best and are universally flattering on all skin tones! I love bold colors too, but they can cause color cast on skin and make it appear washed out. You'll receive an in-depth styling guide about two months prior to your session!
For the Littles
My best advice is to tell young children that the session is going to be FUN! We'll never keep them sitting still and smiling for too long, because this results in stiff, inauthentic photographs. Instead, we'll MAKE them smile by playing games and being silly with them!

Before any portrait session, it's important to ask: what is the goal of this session? How do I want to enjoy the images once they've been created? Whether you're interested in large scale wall art installations or simply a collection of digital images, I'll be here every step of the way to provide guidance and help ensure that you get what you want from this experience!

HOW MANY IMAGES CAN WE EXPECT?
A typical mini session yields about 20-25 final images. We find that this is the perfect amount to ensure variety in a short session, without becoming overwhelming! Quality over quantity, always.
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
A rain date will be determined at the time each mini session is announced, typically on the Sunday immediately after. Please ensure that you are available on the rain date as well!
